Exhibition
The exhibit is suitable for interdisciplinary education. It is divided into two parts, history and physics. Each part is self-sufficient and can also be visited separately. Up till the autumn the Physics Theme Park will also offer an exciting venue for a school excursion, while during the winter months a film programme with documentaries and pearls of the science fiction genre will enrich the Exhibition.

Subjects in the Exhibition for a visit with your school class

Part 1: Einstein’s Life in the Context of World History
Stages in his life: Germany, Switzerland, USA
The “annus mirabilis” 1905 in Bern – Quantum leap of science
Nazi regime, persecution of the Jews, emigration.
The post-war period: pacifism, arms race, cold war. Einstein and Israel.

Part 2: Understanding Physics
Space and time redefined: Special and General Theory of Relativity
With the speed of light by bicycle through Bern – virtually
The relation between energy and mass: E = mc²
The origin of the cosmos: journey back to the Big Bang. Black Holes, curving space.

Admission charges
CHF 12.– per person
On application the two Exhibition parts, History and Physics, can be visited with a single ticket on two different days. Application: Tel. 031 350 77 33

Grade-adjusted guided tours for school classes
Children up to 6th school year: • History and Physics together 1 hour
Children 7th–9th school year: • Physics 1 hour
• History 1 hour
• Physics + History 2 hours
From 10th school year, vocational schools: • Physics 1 hour
• History 1 hour
• Physics + History 2 hours

Prices for guided tours for schools
For children up to 6th school year: History and Physics together (1hour): CHF 100.–
History or Physics separate (each 1hour) CHF 100.–
History and Physics together (2 h incl. break) CHF 180.–

The animated short films on Einstein’s physics from the Exhibition and graphic animations on the speed of light on CD-Rom.
In addition many video and audio clips, photographs and historic key documents that make it possible to follow the story of Einstein’s life and discover his world of ideas. With extensive search functions.
