Fragile Treasure – The conservation of the Caesar tapestries

Four wall hangings, each measuring over 4 x 7 metres, have been in the possession of the city of Bern for nearly 500 years: the so-called Caesar tapestries. They tell in great detail the story of the Roman ruler Julius Caesar, translated into the imagery of the time between 1450 and 1470.
